British magazines have it that Gerry McGovern and Phil Simmons of the Land Rover design department are all set to come up with a sporty and masculine look for their new car, the Range Rover Sport Coupe. It is expected to debut in 2018 and should lock horns with BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Land Rover wants to target its urban customers, thereby a perfect blend of power and style is on the cards.
Style and Finish of Range Rover Sport Coupe
With Range Rover Evoque carrying a tag of being a ‘luxury car’, Sport Coupe will be more style-centric. Land Rover will focus on versatility and ease of driving to go past its competition.
Images suggest that Range Rover Sport Coupe will sport a dropping roofline and steep but smooth windscreen, keeping the style quotient high. Sharply angled rear glass along with sheer rear-gate suggests that it will have reduced cargo space. The front view has every feature of a Range Rover. Grilles are elegantly slotted, and swept-back headlights provide the all needed classy look.
Chance of a remodeled interior is slim, and it won’t be a surprise if the automaker decides to go with its standard Range Rover styling. However, the InControl touchscreen may receive an update along with its gear box and seating.
The British automaker is going to keep its reputation intact on grounds of Land Rover’s off-road capabilities. The Range Rover Sport Coupe will share all the same technologies as with any other of its siblings. Adjustable air-suspensions will allow its driver to elevate the car to avoid rugged terrains. A hill-descent control will provide extra traction to the wheels for better stability. Tech installations will include collision warning systems, lane departure alert systems, and updated rear view cameras to cope with the urban traffic snarls.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Powered for Efficiency
Two options of six- and eight-cylinder JLR engines are available with the Range Rover Sport Coupe. It may be installed with the F-Pace’s four cylinder unit. Speculations are also being made about a hybrid powertrain based on the RR 3.0 SDV6 HEV for this new product.
Another possibility is supercharged JLR 5.0-liter V8 engine. It will receive a lightweight alloy body all the way from Germany. And combined with the premium high-performance engine; Range Rover can rev up to 550 hp at maximum.
EPA rating is set to 22/29 mpg with an acceleration time of 7.6 seconds for 0-100 and a maximum top speed of 134 mph.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Dimension and Cost
Range Rover Sport Coupe is reported to stand at 4.7 meters in length, which makes it smaller than the 4.9 meter X6 and GLE. Customers can expect a reduced cabin space unless Land Rover comes up with internal modifications.
As for it’s built, the car may borrow its structure from Jaguar F-Pace and a long-hooded aspect of the same will be visible in the new Sport Coupe.
The price of this vehicle can be slotted with the bulkier German counterparts. And can be estimated to range somewhere around mid-$60,000. It may go up to six figures for the higher end models.
