The 2017 Mazda CX-4 joins the ever-growing number of crossover utility vehicles that have become common ion our roads. Unveiled recently at the Beijing Motor Show, this vehicle is currently only available in the Chinese market and no word about it being available in other parts of the world. However, car pundits and enthusiast strongly believe that this auto will be available in other parts of the world for instance Europe and north America sooner rather than later.
The Mazda CX-4 2017 is a sporty crossover that is based on the Koeru concept car and comes with a low roof. It falls between the Mazda3/CX-3 and the bigger CX-5 which is also popular on our roads. At first glance, you will notice the resemblance of the 2017 Mazda CX-4 to the CX-3 and CX-5. However, it is much larger than the CX-3 and smaller than the CX-5. It comes with a height of 1500mm; the width is 1,900mm while the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. The upper and lower grill are much sleeker and curvier while the headlights are more elongated. To give it an aggressive and sporty appeal, it features a larger and curvier bumper and fog lights. The wheels are more hidden/thrust inside the arches while the side mirrors are uniquely-designed.
The 2017 Mazda CX-4 is based on the chassis and underpinnings of the popular CX-5 but is low-lying and more stylish. This is also evident in its cabin that blends the CX-3 and CX-5 and sits five mature adults. The legroom both at the front and back is much bigger than in the Mazda3 but slightly smaller than the CX-5. Its interior is very elegant and courtesy of the high-quality finish while the centrally placed console make it look techy. The front panel is massive, the dashboard very stylish and features a tunnel between the two front seats.

2017 Mazda CX-4 – Main Power Production Unit
The 2017 CX-4 will be available in several engines. The entry-level engine will be a 2.0-liter, 4 cylinder gasoline engine that churns 158 hp and 148lb-ft of torque. Another 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine producing 192 hp and 188 ft-lb will be available as well as a 2.2-liter diesel Skyactiv-D-2.2 generating 175 hp and 309 ft-lb. Speculations have it that there is a possible Skyactiv-G 2.5T turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 250 hp and 309 ft-lb. All engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission/gear box driving either the front wheels (FWD) or all wheels (AWD).
2017 Mazda CX-4 -Price and Release Date
After its unveiling at the Beijing Auto show this month, the 2017 Mazda CX-4 is expected to hit Asian to be more precise Chinese showrooms in a couple of months. The expected price is expected to be not less than that of the CX-3 and not more than that of the CX-5. The analyst expects the 2017 Mazda CX-4 to retail at between $19000 and &21000.
